Do You Hear the People Ring
This webring is for all fans of Les Misérables, whether you be a fan of the original 1862 novel by Victor Hugo, the 1980 musical adaptation, and/or any other of the many adaptations of this classic story !
The Les Mis fandom is old. A big part of the fandom as it is today stems directly from the 2012 film adaptation of the musical and the community on modern social media sites, especially Tumblr, that grew from it, but the fact of the matter is that the musical is forty years old and the original novel is over 160. As a result, an interesting experience as a post-2012 Les Mis fan and a web revivalist is to find relics of Les Mis fandom on the old old web ! Having a webring for it therefore has this fun feeling to it, knowing that I'm building community in the same way Les Mis fans did in 2002.
I was, in fact, capable of finding mentions of various old Les Mis webrings from back in the 2000s - as an example, go check out the Les Amis de l'ABC ring on the Wayback Machine. I could not find any webrings that were still active though.

i got into it when i was 12 and it's been my favorite story ever since. it's influenced so many aspects of my life — it shaped my morals to a degree, i've gotten close with some of my dearest friends over it, and i'll be honest it's got something to do with my future career choice too probably. it's so incredibly dear to me

Les Mis (book & musical) means so much to me & has played a huge part in the development of my identity. I wouldn't know many of my friends without Les Mis, nor would I be called Ant (it was originally short for Antinous as in 'Antinous wild' lol), nor would I have gotten the courage to transition when I did.
fave characters : Gavroche, Enjolras
