chappell roan
your fav artist's fav artist !
Chappell Roan is an American singer and songwriter. She first rose to prominence in 2024 with the release of her single "Good Luck Babe", the success of which blowing her into the mainstream after years of releasing music. Her newfound fame also brought her first studio album from the previous year, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which had already gained a cult following as well as critical success, into the charts. At the 67th Grammy Awards, she was nominated for all the "Big Four" Awards, taking home Best New Artist !
She is known for her bright, fun, unashamed and uncensored lesbian pop tunes, her camp and drag queen aesthetics, and her assertive and unashamed personality, which has gotten her into a lot of controversy in the media. (A fun fact about me is that the reason I decided to uninstall the Instagram app was that so many people on that godforsaken app are so miserable about Chappell Roan.) She's been acclaimed as a refreshing voice in the pop scene for her music, style, and her views on how a pop star should act and how they should be treated.
I first heard of Chappell Roan from my friend Dorian who would sometimes reference her in conversation, but I never listened to a song until a text post came up on my Tumblr dashboard that said something like "um ... can you play a song with a fucking beat", which I didn't even know were lyrics until I looked at the notes. That line was so immediately captivating that I had to listen to it, and a few days later while waiting in my school common area for my dad to pick me up, I listened to the entirety of The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. This happened to be... exactly three weeks before the release of Good Luck Babe, which means that I can still say that I was a fan before she blew up lmaooooooo
Chappell Roan means a lot to me. She's one half of a pair of queer pop artists who embody everything I could want out of not just queer pop but pop in general : Chappell Roan is loud, bold, expressive, lyrical, fun. Her music makes me so joyous. Furthermore, it came to me at such a wonderful time in my life where I was growing so very comfortable and proud with my own sexuality as a lesbian and let me tell you. People who know me well would know that I don't relate to a lot of music but there is so much Chappell Roan that I feel very deeply, and anything I don't relate to is still a fucking banger. Um. she's also gorgeous and awesome forever.
